2016 - A Retrospection

2016 has been an eventful year so far in my life which has ups and downs equally distributed along its timeline. It has also been a stressful year so far and it also made me who I'm today. I'm thankful for it. I just thought of retrospecting this year from the  both sides of the coin i.e., the Good and bad parts of the year.

Some of the highlights of this  year include

1. My work carried me to different places across India. I have been to Kolkatta- Thrice,New Delhi - Twice , Odisha- once , Jaisalmer, Rajastan - once and had the opportunity to witness some of the advanced technology stuff.

2. I got promoted this year !!! and more responsibilities have been given to me and I tried to bring small change in our working culture which is fruitful so far. I was quite busy compared to the previous year 2015.

3. I bought a bike i.e., "TVS Jupiter" !!!. This is big achievement as I myself doesn't like driving and I just bought it so that my family uses it, so far we don't have any means of transportation. I still prefer public transport for travelling as I hate driving in traffic ;).

4. I happen to read quite a lot this year compared to previous year. I found the following books the best I have come across in this year which gave me a new perspective to life.
  • The Journey  Home, Autobiography of Radhanath Swami about his journey to seek the truth.
  • The Seeker by Karan Bajaj
  • If  truth be told : A monk's memoir by Om swami
5. I have recorded quite a number of guitar videos this time which are just intro of a song. Though I haven't perfected the art of playing guitar but I love playing guitar and recording songs. I think I need still more time to practice and perfect playing guitar.

6.  I fulfilled a promise which I made in 2014 and Im proud that in-spite what I have been through I have fulfilled it.

7. This year, I was able to achieve some financial stability after a great effort and systematic planning from 2015  and Im proud of it , though few things are still to be taken care of .

8. This is first time ever  after blogging for nearly 6 years , I have updated my blog so regularly and I'm unstoppable now ;)

9. I have contributed extensively to the following NGO's for the welfare of the needy through all means possible for me. Be it monetary, time etc
  • Akshaya Patra Foundation
  • Naam Foundation
  • Goonj
  • Food Bank Hyderabad
  • Rangde
10. In the end , I tried my best to love and be there for people around me and did make an attempt to make their world a little better and happier.

On the other side of coin...

1. Lack of Communication and Misunderstandings lead to destruction of Good friendship which was built over years.I lost the trust which cant be regained now.

2. Family being dragged into certain issues which could have been resolved amicably.

3. Stress taking a toll on my health.

4. And I feel more lonelier than the previous year...

The way ahead in 2017

Im looking forward for 2017 and hopefully do all the things as I stated below:

1. I'm  looking forward to visit new places & explore them. Hopefully I shall visit Himalayas in 2017.

2. Playing more songs on guitar and read more books.

3. Dedicate this life for helping the needy .

4. Make new friends and do some adventurous trips along with them.

5. Resolve old issues.

6. Spirituality has a special place in my life. Hopefully I shall explore more of it.

7. Pursue higher studies.

8. Achieve Financial stability completely.

9. Find the Inner Peace I'm searching for. I hope God grants me what I'm looking for.

I hope you must have  been through up's and down's as well in this year and be grateful for 2016 for it made you stronger and who you are.

Wishing you a very happy and prosperous New year 2017 in advance

Cheers to life

Food Drive-3

The Food Drive organised on every Sunday by a Group called FOOD BANK- HYDERABAD is doing a great job. As i already decided to do this once in a month. I have made an arrangement to give 50 plates of Veg biryani ( Rs. 35/-)through a Food centre recommended by the group itself. I find this very  helpful as I cannot get cooked in huge quantities at home and pack them etc. All I need to do is to call the Food centre as they already have tie up with the Food Bank Team and say the quantity and transfer the amount online. The Food Bank team would collect the food item from the centre and distribute to the needy across the city.

Do visit their Fb page for more details if anybody interested to do the same.

My 100th post !!!

I'm happy to share  this 100th post on this blog. Its been a remarkable journey so far which started in Feb, 2010. It took me close to 7 years to reach my 100th post. I feel proud and very happy to achieve this. I never restricted myself in expressing anything I wish to. I posted on various subjects I felt connected to. At first , I tried to advertise my blog on various social media platforms, asking for their views on my posts. But later on at some point of time, I realized this isn't me. I never craved for any attention or recognition, infact I always avoided it any cost. So  I left the advertising part and just kept this blog to myself. Of course, I'm not a good writer to put forth the various emotion into words. I accept this fact. But I still want to write as it gives me the joy which is what I'm looking for.

Although, I gained very few followers and that too most of them are friends like Sai Charan who always motivated me and a 1000 times better writer than me who can subtly give a shape to the various emotions that he has been through in his life through words.I just love the way he does that. I thank him especially for always coming back to my blog and share few words on my posts for all these years.

Initially, I thought I should restrict this blog to just the expressing my mind and nothing else. But as time went on, I felt I can share more than just writing. So I started to post my guitar videos, things I did etc. Whenever I cant write , I post one of my guitar videos as a compensation ;). My guitar skills are still in budding stage, yet  I cant stop myself from posting them here. So I hope you don't mind my mistakes, while I still learn to master this beautiful art.

From now on, I will try to post  every week as I wanted to utilize the my time efficiently during the weekends. And moreover , I wanted keep myself very busy for next few months as life has been a roller coaster ride for me in the past few months and hopefully posting here gives my mind the space it requires to settle down.

Finally I thank everyone who supported in this journey so far. God Bless you :)

let the journey continue...

Cheers

The Most Astounding Fact about the Universe

I always had a fascination towards understanding the very origins of the universe and humans as well. I took an intense study in this regard a very long time ago which can explain in scientific manner about our past. It was a remarkable journey of discovering the truth which took me six months and I will always cherish it throughout my life. Neil deGrasse, a renowned Astrophysicist beautifully summarizes the most astounding fact about the universe when asked by a journalist. I just love his answer and flow of the music.

I think this video gives an opportunity to reflect on ourselves the fact that we all are inter-connected with no tags of religion, caste, race etc that are dividing us and driving us to our own ultimate destruction. I hope we could live in a world free of hatred towards fellow beings.

Because remember the fact that my atoms came from those stars,
And so does yours..

Cheers and Peace

Old clothes for the needy

Last year , at around this time I was able to collect a large number of old and unused clothes from my family, colleagues, friends and colony friends and give it to an  NGO called GOONJ which in turns gives them to the needy. The concept of GOONJ was unique. As far as I understood, it just doesn't give this clothes straight away. The team of GOONJ gathers the volunteers of a village who are willing to work for its upliftment through their programs and after fulfillment of these programs, these old clothes which are refurbished by GOONJ team along with some other things is handed over to the people of that village. Its a win-win situation and a successfully working model through which they have executed various programs across India.

This year continuing the same trend, I happen to request in the month of September  all my friends, colleagues, relatives and colony friends to give away their old clothes. All I got it is what you see in the picture. An overwhelming response which I did not expected frankly.

Eight gunny bags worth of old clothes has been successfully collected so far. And I would like to thank all my friends, family, relatives and colony friends for their quick response and good heart to help the needy. God Bless you all.

I decided to do this every year in this period as the winter dominates India and people without clothes will suffer its wrath. It is said that death through cold is second highest in India and hopefully I get to collect more gunny bags every year and give it to the needy.

I'm planning to visit the GOONJ office next Saturday hopefully to give these items to them. I will post an update accordingly.

Anybody interested to know more about the activities of GOONJ can visit their website. http://goonj.org/ .

Hopefully it inspires you to do something as well.

Cheers

Update - 17/12/2016

Finally I got the time to hand over the clothes to the Goonj office , Hyderabad. Mr. Parithosh explained me the various initiatives by the Goonj and gave a brief info on how Goonj works. I was very much impressed and promised him that I would come back with something more for the needy.

I got a receipt too for the clothes I gave them. Hopefully, the clothes are put to good use for the needy requirements.

Cheers to Goonj

Breakfast for visitors ;)

My mom has the habit of keeping food and water outside our house for birds and cats. Some birds visit our house for this food and water quite regularly and my mom keeps me telling that you should record this activity. Lucky enough, today we happen to see and record a video of a sparrow eating the biscuit and in the near by a squirrel having his share of food , while a pigeon is waiting for its turn to fulfill its tummy ;).

The squirrel is in the extreme right corner of this short video , you should watch very carefully to have a glimpse of it and for the pigeon it comes at the end of the video. Unfortunately I couldn't take the video of it having food. Birds are always on high alert, so this is all I could capture in this short video.

Enlarge this video to full screen to have a better look.

My book collection !!!

I love reading books a lot. Books have always presented a different perspective of the world around. Im sure I would love to collect and read them till my death;). I just felt like sharing my book collection here and not the wisdom I gained from them;). I think i'll dedicate another post in this regard on this blog in the near future. This is however just a glimpse of my never ending book collection ;). Hope you guys like it.

Do you have similar collection as  well? . If yes, I would love to read them as well. So feel  free to share any of your favourite books with me in the comment section below.

Happy Reading !!

You are Selected !!!

I'm very happy and proud to say that my friend Karthik has written a comprehensive book on campus placement for students. Bringing out the present day requirements of the leading Industries looking for a job seeker and the strategies to be adopted by the student to meet this requirements, the book is aptly titled " You are selected" in which he addresses the present methodology of placements. With over a decade of experience in training students across the country, his lucid presentation on this topic makes the student understand the strategy required, adopt it and succeed in campus placements.

After reading this book, I found the key points, do's and don'ts and his in-depth knowledge on this subject is commendable. I would definitely recommend this book for students who, after reading   this ,would get an overview of their strength and weakness and what needs to be done to improve upon.

You did great job karthik, Im looking forward for many more such things in the future as well.

Dinner Plates !!!

I decided to help out my team with a small gift that I felt would enhance the working environment in our team. I bought dinner plates( 27 nos.) for my entire team as I noticed that they don't have proper plates for having breakfast and lunch as well. Their meager income doesn't allow them to think of such things. Anyway I thought they deserve these and perhaps be a moral booster for them to work more effectively for meeting our planned objectives.

World Food Day

Today i.e., October 16th marks the "World Food day " honouring the establishment of Food and Agriculture Organisation(FAO) of United Nation in 1945 with the primary objective to defeat hunger from this world. The organisation has the Motto " let there be bread ". On this occasion, various NGO's across the world conduct various food programs to highlight issue related to Food.

I came across a group by name " FOOD BANK- HYDERABAD" in a newspaper and was impressed by the work done by this team. The team objective is simple. Cook an extra plate of food for the needy in your home and we will pick it up from you and give it to the needy. The Group conducts this drive on every Sunday, where each volunteer collects the food across Hyderabad city and re-organize the collected food into a "food packet" and later on distribute the "food packets" to the needy across the city.

Upon on contacting them, they told me that I can give anything based on my convenience. So I decided to step in. I purchased 50 water bottles and 50 biscuit packets  to feed  the needy.

Mr.Narasimha ,a volunteer from Food bank came to my house and collected the items today.

I decided to do this on regular basis from now on, may be twice a month and help the needy. Hopefully atleast on Sunday we don't have anyone who is hungry in my city.

A tribute to real heroes of this nation!!

The present  scenario in this Nation requires that the people of this Nation are to be reminded of the contributions and sacrifices made by the warriors of this Nation .  I think this video perfectly captures the emotional journey of a soldier which he undergoes through, while defending this Nation.

I hope you guys realize what a soldier does to make sure you have a nice and sound sleep with your family .

Applied Impact Mechanics!!

I'm very happy and proud to say that my senior colleague Dr. V Narayamurthy  who is very humble and highly knowledgeable on various subjects  has co-authored  a wonderful book on " Impact Mechanics" after putting a strenuous effort and having many sleepless nights for  about two years. He co-authored this book along with two other eminent professors in this field who are from IIT Chennai and from IIT Delhi.

This book aims to consolidate the various aspects of Impact mechanics which is the new emerging subject in the present world scenario and so far books authored by foreign professors which are very costly on this subject were used to teach to the students. I'm also proud and happy to say this that  the price of this book comes at 1/10th the price of foreign books on this subject which is in the range of  Rs.12000 to Rs. 15000.

There is one more interesting thing that needs to be mentioned is that all authors took the decision to divert all the money earned through this book to a trusty which helps the people in needy. What a wise and inspiring decision by the authors :)

This book got launched recently in the market and I'm the second person to buy it ;)

Congratulations to Dr. V Narayanamurthy  and  I wish that he writes many more books on various subjects of his interests in the near future as well.

The Sad September

This September seems to be saddest month of the year with the way things have gone in our country. I was deeply upset with the following incidents starting from the attack on the Army headquarters in Uri, a girl being brutally  stabbed 27 times to her death for refusing to love and floods in Hyderabad. One event related to Peace between our neighbours, Another related to peace internally and the last one relating to the Peace between humans and the mother nature.

1. The Ideological Conflict

Being an ardent fan of Indian Army , it deeply hurts me to the core whenever I see/read in the news that our soldiers as well as innocent civilians were killed in a terror attack. At times like this, when I was a kid  I used to feel bad that I don't have any special powers that superheroes normally possess so that  I can put an end to this conflict once and for all and bring peace upon the two nations that would last forever. May be I sounded childish as i was suppose to be at that age, but as the way things are working now, I guess there won't be any peace that would last forever and we indeed need some super natural event to bring the two nations closer which I guess would never happen.

So after concluding that bringing peace between two nations is literally impossible , the feasible options left out are diplomatic isolation and war. Although a great effort is being made in this direction which may turnout to be  futile thus leaving the only option to  go to war.  As far as I'm concerned , we are heading towards war in near future which would bring catastrophe not only to the two nations but the world as a whole.

This is the bitter truth we should accept and be prepared for it. And I have no doubts that Our armed forces are ready to tackle any external threat. No matter how tough may be the situation , our armed forces are bound to make it to top of it. But incidents like Uri leaves a scar that is bound to heal. One thing we should all re-think about is how we treat a fallen soldier’s family. I see tremendous appreciation, respect and monetary rewards in huge amounts for our Olympics heroes but not the same for a fallen soldier and this must be changed. For I feel that the soldier is  the one who lets you and your family sleeps peacefully at night and lets you fulfill all your dreams. The soldier deserves a much more respect and monetary benefits to his family for the services he renders to this nation.

I only hope that our NSA’s strategy of defensive offence may workout and turn things into our favour when the direct conflict begins. And coming to dealing with internal unrest that only exists in certain sections, I guess a new strategy is required to address this issue  and I'm sure that it would be dealt properly like the way it was done in Punjab after the unrest for a separate nation was brought out.

May your soul rest in peace
2. The Psychological imbalance

“If you love someone truly , you should be in a position to let her go from your life for her happiness because all you ever wanted was her happiness”

I think this defines true love as far as I'm concerned and which is what is lacking in today’s generation. It is heart wrenching to see a girl been stabbed 27 times to death for refusing to love. I happen to see the video of it and my mind was completely blank for few minutes. The immediate questions that popped up my mind was how can someone do something like that to the one he loved ??. I was so frustrated and boiled by the anger that for  a moment i thought what kind of a planet I'm living. The brutality of this crime requires capital punishment to be awarded to the criminal and I'm sure that is what many people agree after watching video. I hope that our judiciary system would bring justice to her.

This incident challenges the safety of a women in our society and how she is being taken for granted. I don't know when the time would come , when a girl would feel safe and strong all by herself wherever she in and be in a position to defend herself against any aggression. After watching the movie ”PINK”, which rightly brought this aspect i.e., we should accept and respect whenever a girl says NO. It's means NO. The movie aptly highlighted  the issues faced by the women in this society which needs our serious attention. All this calls for a major change in the our mindset which I guess would take another 50 years.

Respect Her 'NO'
I always wanted to have a daughter if I ever get married and I'm already started to worry about her safety. I only hope that things would change by enforcing stricter laws as well as change in our mindset .And I think our cinema industry has a bigger role to play in changing the  mindset of the people  by stopping the projection of  a women as an object of just entertainment in the movies. We need more movies like “PINK” in the future to highlight as well as create more awareness about girl’s issues  among the people of this country.

Watch a beautiful recitation of " tu chal" from the movie PINK by Mr. Big B.

By the time , my daughter comes to this earth, I just hope as a father that  the world would be better place for her to live in.

I pray for the girl’s soul who was stabbed to rest in peace...

3. The Wrath of the nature.

“You take good care of me and i will take good care of you”

I guess our nature follows this adage very strictly. The floods have created a havoc in many lives in Hyderabad. I guess all this is happening because of the man made events that led to climate changes. Every year mother nature is indicating that she is not happy with us and we should take measures to make her happy otherwise we should be ready to face the wrath of the mother nature.

All the above said events occurred due to the lack of inner peace within a human being. I hope everyone realise this sooner and start working towards attaining Inner peace which leads to happiness and prosperity.

With Inner Peace , you can achieve anything:)

I Won't Eat Animals!!!

Im sure this would be the cutest thing you would have seen today. This girl after realizing that the meat is from animals lets her heart out. I'm in love with this cute little girl "Zada", her feelings and expression of sorrow for animals. Im personally a vegetarian and  I hope that the rest of us would realize the same and would change our perspective towards animals.

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

"One thing remains the same i.e., your task and your duty. You are required to ensure the security of this country against any aggression. What does that mean for you?  It means you shall have to fight and fight to win.." an inspiring speech by the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, the Chief Architect of India's decisive victory in 1971 Indo- Pak War.

Watch the video of his inspiring speech for young cadets of Indian Army.

The  Brilliant war strategies and its perfect execution won the War for us under his Dynamic and Daring personality. Keeping in view of his contribution to the war, the Indian Government honoured him with title " Field Marshal".As of now only two Generals were conferred with this title.

The Battle of longewala

I happen to visit Longewala, Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan where in 1971, an intense battle took battle place during Indo- Pak war. This place gave me goosebumps after coming to know  the exceptional bravery displaced by Indian Army and we won the battle. A monument was erected in the Honour of those who laid down their lives protecting their positions. I 'm posting some of the inspirational quotes by Indian Army which I came across the monument.

I  hope you guys like it and respect our Indian army for their sacrifice in defending the Motherland.

Spiritual Wisdom

( I have a habit of writing down good points, which I come across while reading books or watching documentary videos etc. Here are few important points which I found in my quest to understand this life through spirituality.)

1.Simplicity is best path to lead peaceful life. simplicity means your happiness is dependent on only very few things.

2.The universal principle of spirituality to express our god's love through compassion to others.

3. Trees are always eager to serve others , we should be like that.

4. How we tolerate a provoking situations defines us. Pleasure and pain are both two sides of a coin. We will experience both in life and how we react to them defines us.

5.Spirit is the universal being within us which doesn't have any attachments emotions etc as our human mind has.

6.Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional.

7.Don't react but respond.

8.Don't ask questions like why it is happening to me only, instead focus your mind on how to deal with the situation. There are things beyond your control due to your karma so to deal with such situations you need the help of higher power.

9. Your happiness should not be defined in terms of materialistic world.

10.Whatever you do , do it with love.

I believe these points are self explanatory and if implemented shall bring upon peace and bliss into your life.

Cheers
