Travel Post-3

I got a chance to visit the SDSC, facility of ISRO. ISRO needs no introduction and its success stories marks its level of standards the organisation is maintaining. SDSC stands for Satish Dhawan Space Centre formerly known as SHAR which stands for Sriharikota High Altitude Range, located near Sri harikota, Nellore. This facility is known for its launch of India's prestigious space vehicles such as PSLV ,GSLV etc. I went to SHAR via chennai.  I will briefly share few pictures of my journey as well.

The plan was simple. Land in chennai and take a cab to SHAR facility and come back to Chennai and land in Hyderabad. It was just 2 day program along with my colleagues.

After a gap of almost 10 years, I'm visiting Chennai and I was pretty much excited to visit this city.

Lord Nataraja welcomes at Chennai Airport

Mahabalipuram Temple Replica in the Chennai Airport.
The visit to ISRO was memorable to me since this organisation inspired me to reach the position of what Im today.  I owe particularly to the live telecast on DD-1 of its PSLV- C2 launch on May 26th , 1999 which was the turning point of my life( I will discuss this in detail in another post). The technical aspects of the visit cannot be discussed  here but the over all facility and the infra structure is just a feast to my eyes and gave proper food for thought for many ideas which can implemented in my work as well.

The Legends of ISRO in a single picture ;)
The Chengalamma Temple near sullurpeta is very famous temple which is visited by ISRO personnel every time before  the launch to take the blessing of the Goddess Chengalamma. I happen to visit this temple as well and take blessing of the Goddess.

Chengalamma Temple
After visit to SHAR , we came back to chennai the very same day. The next day we had sometime for sight seeing and decided to visit the famous Saravana stores near chrompet which is known for wide variety of clothes etc.

I happen to buy cotton sarees for my mother after a long time and she felt happy when I gifted her the sarees.

In the end, it was another memorable tour from all perspective as I gained a lot from this tour. I hope to travel more in the year of 2017 which was one of my goals for this year.

Travel Post -2

As per the goals set out for this year 2017, I wanted to travel a lot this year  across India. Thanks to Airasia offer in January which provided low cost tickets for various destinations starting from the month of |May , I happen to convince my colleagues Mr. Manoj and Mr. EV Subba Rao to plan and visit Goa for 4 day trip in the month of May. So we booked our tickets to and fro for just  Rs. 3200/-

We planned to visit South Goa first i.e., colva beach followed by dudhsagar waterfalls and then visit North Goa i.e., calangute beach followed by stay in the capital city Panjim. I was bit skeptical about the weather conditions as it was hottest season in India but things went on as planned and we had good fun.

Day 1 :  Colva Beach

We landed in Goa airport in the evening and straight away took a taxi to colva beach which costed us Rs. 760/- it was One hour journey to Colva. The road to colva was so pleasant because of coconut trees all along the road which cooled the weather nearby. We enjoyed the ride to colva.

Once we reached colva , we directly went the beach resort by name Colmar beach resort which charged rs. 2000/- for the room rent . The resort is very close to the beach and has its own swimming pool. we immediately checked in and went straight to the beach and had a good time.

Me with EV Subba rao and Manoj

Day 2: Dudhsagar Water falls

The next day in the morning after spending some good time playing on the beach , we planned to visit the famous water fall in Goa  i.e., Dudhsagar water falls . We spoke to local taxi association as there is no Ola or Uber in entire Goa and since we wanted to go calangute after visit to falls , the total fare taxi driver charged was rs. 3500/-. i.e., from colva beach to dudhsagar falls and from there to calangute beach.

We had good time in dudhsagar waters as i was not expecting a good weather, but the weather was very pleasant from day 1. The water falls was not up to the mark as it was not rainy season but at the ground level, it was sufficient enough for everyone out there to have lots of fun.  The tourism board charges Rs. 1400/- for three persons as we are supposed to travel through Bolero vehicle only as it is some 5 kms deep inside. The route to falls was quite rough and we had good fun during journey as well.

Below are some of pictures and videos taken near the falls

Having some fun ;)
The majestic view of the falls along with train passing by is recorded in this video.

We reached in the evening to calangute and stayed in the Calangute residency which is attached to the beach itself and they charged about rs. 5,500/- for the room. We had lots of fun in the evening and in the night as well.

Calangute Beach
Day 3: Fort Aquada and Panjim

We decided to go to Fort Aquada which is famous spot and both my colleagues decided that we should take a bike to travel to the location. They both wanted to ride Royal Enfield bike which after a long search we happen to find two of the bikes . The bike leaser just charged Rs. 700/- per bike per day. and let us go. I think they charged about Rs. 300/- for Activa which was most commonly used bike in Goa.

The Fort Aquada was built by Portuguese to defend themselves against various enemies at that time. The fort was water filling station for their ships. It was beautiful spot in Goa and one must definitely visit it.

Water storage unit in the centre

View from the fort
In the evening , we decided to move to Panjim and we took a taxi who charged us Rs.500/- to the city. I dont remember the Hotel name exactly but they charged Rs. 2560/- for the room.  And in the night ,we went to casino Deltin JAQK (google it for more) and as always people say that " House always win"  was proved yet again with us.

Day 4:  Panjim

The tiredness of hectic travelling took over us and we decided to stay in the hotel itself. Yes , we did stayed in the room completely for one entire day and that too in Goa ;)

All we could do is this;)

The Corleone Family ;)

Day 5 : Back to Hyderabad.

Amazing view of Goa  from the aircraft while returning back to Hyderabad.

Last but not the least, we had great fun together and hopefully we shall have many more in the future as well.

P.S. Thanks to AirAsia for making this trip possible ;)

Food Drive-8 (May 2017)- World Hunger Day

May 28th marks the World Hunger Day and the Food Bank - Hyderabad Group planned a massive food drive in this regard. I decided to make something special this time by cooking the food instead of buying it and giving it to the group for distribution for the needy. I took the help of my colleague Mr. Srinivas Rao who is an expert in cooking Veg biryani. He readily accepted the proposal and we worked out the list of all the items required, followed by shopping and finally the cooking and packing. It was a bit tiresome experience for both of us as none of us has ever done something like this at massive scale.

Below are the few pictures of preparation , cooking and packing for the event.

Master chef Mr. Srinivas Rao

Food packets ready for delivery

It took us about 8 hours at a stretch to cook veg biryani and when packed it came to 152 packets. I felt happy and after all the efforts were put in to make a delicious biryani for the needy on this occasion of Hunger day.

The Food bank team later on collected the food items from us and delivered it to the needy. Here is a pic with them.

A special thanks to my colleague Mr. Srinivas Rao for his contribution as a chef and  making this day a memorable one.

Bharat Ke Veer- 1

I always wondered as to whenever I hear in the news that a soldier becomes martyr defending this Great Nation against the evil forces, How can I help their families in such situation?. These soldiers laid down their lives defending you , so that you and your families can fulfill your dreams and become a better person of  this nation. It was always the job of the government to take care of their families and of course friends, relatives and colleagues have always come forward to help them pass through the grief times. But me, as a citizen sitting very far from their families always felt that I should help them at least with some small monetary funds that I can afford apart from offering respects and prayers to the fallen heroes. Of course, I'm sure many would have felt the same.

Akshay kumar , a well known actor in India felt the need to bridge this gap by providing a platform to citizens to contribute monetary funds directly to the martyr's kin. And thus with the help of Ministry of Home affairs ,Govt. of India came up with a website called " Bharat ke Veer" which provides the chance for the citizens to directly  contribute to the Martyr's family kin in whatever way they can and these funds under the supervision of a committee ahead by Ministry of Home Affairs will be given to the martyr's family.

When  I came to know about this website, I was instantly impressed by the idea and decided to contribute whatever I can. The website houses only martyrs who worked for Home Ministry i.e.,

1. BSF- Border Security Force
2. CRPF- Central Reserve Police Force
3. CISF- Central Industrial  Security Force
4. Assam Rifles
5. ITBP- Indo- Tibetian Border Police Force
6. SSB- Shashatra Seema Bal
7. NDRF- National Disaster Response Force
8. The Elite Commando Group -NSG- National Security Guards

I'm not quite sure such platform exists for martyrs from  Indian Army, Air force and Navy and if it doesn't , it should be extended by Defence Ministry.

I request you to visit their website https://bharatkeveer.gov.in/ to know more info about the martyrs and hopefully you can contribute to their families for the supreme sacrifice they made to this country. The idea is to collect an amount of Rs. 15 lakhs for each martyr family and people can contribute even smaller amounts of Rs. 10/- as well . Im quite surprised that people have instantly loved this concept and with overwhelming support of people , the goal is not far away.

I found about 114 martyr names on the website and I have decided to help all their families with whatever amount I can in the next few months. Hopefully by end of this year , I'm planning to reach my goal.

Below is a certificate issued by MHA for the contribution  I have done. Now on wards I will update about my progress regularly here on my blog. This is not just for show casing my contribution, its my way of reiterating my commitment I made and also to boost me against all odds I will face on my journey.

The Martyrs Names are

1. Constable Arup Kumar ,CRPF
2. COnstable N Senthil Kumar, CRPF
3. Constable Ram Meher, CRPF
4. ASI Rameshwar Lal, CRPF

We salute you for sacrifice you made to this Country and May your soul rest in Peace.

Please do visit the website https://bharatkeveer.gov.in/ and do the needful.
